This blog post (below) is shamelessly copied and pasted from the Life of a Rockstar Blog written by Nicole Hanratty. Thank you Nicole! We could not have said it better! It was great fun jumping in the photo booth with you, Lorenzo and David. 🙂 The red carpet was lit up and ready to receive top studio execs and Hollywood’s biggest hearts who spent their Wednesday night at a benefit for My Friend’s Place to end youth homelessness. The charity that Miley Cyrus gave light to last year at the MTV VMAs (see photo below) honored the 2015 “Champions” of My Friend’s Place whose work helps to end youth homelessness including Chuck Freadhoff(Champion of the Year), Original Productions (Corporate Partner of the Year), Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood (Community Partner of the Year), and Ammunition Theatre Company (Volunteer Partner of the Year). Actor / celebrity young heartthrob Lorenzo James Henrie cast member now starring in Fear The Walking Dead (an extension of The Walking Dead franchise) showed up to bring awareness to the cause mingling amongst the attendees and staying to enjoy the dinner, speeches and entertainment. Held at the beautiful Taglyan Complex, the night featured live music donated by The Replicas on the outdoor patio, a photo booth donated by Loriann Serna thatcanhappen.com, an open bar, endless hand served appetizers, and a beautifully decorated foyer lined with tall oblong mirrored glass tables overflowing with silent auction items donated by both private individuals and corporations. The silent auction included fabulous ticketing packages to events, concerts and amusement parks. Hot bid after items included four hopper passes to Disneyland, two tickets to see any show at the Hollywood Palladium, a Bottega Louie home wine tasting party for twelve people with a scrumptious pink box of goodies, tickets to The Voice donated by NBC Universal, and a gift card for a night at The Montage. A thrilling Cirque du Monde performance featuring a twin duo high swing act, fabulous dancing, and a man spinning himself in a lit up oversized hoop with moves that appeared to defy gravity. Cirque du Monde were more than just the performers last night, they also personally donate their time at My Friend’s Place with the homeless youth teaching them acrobatics with trust building exercises. With live music that included a stunning rendition of “Hallelujah”, top notch performances, and touching speeches, the crowd’s mood was jubilant while they dined on a seemingly endless offering of traditional Greek fare. The dinner included multiple courses including the famous house specialty avocado salad with grapes that was dashed with just the right amount of lime, delicious white rice with cranberries, pine nuts and almonds, grilled vegetables, and beef and chicken entrée selections all served family style which added to the lighthearted dinner conversation. My Friend’s Place is the homeless center about which Miley Cyrus spoke at the 2014 MTV Music Video awards giving her award speech time to a young man she met at My Friend’s Place letting him speak instead to raise awareness for youth homelessness. Special thanks to Marcus Anthony Gray and The Little Gray Book for inviting Life of a Rockstar out to this wonderful charity event.
